All Filipino’s are always proud being Pinoy. Are you thinking of what being pinoy all about? Well, Filipino have these kind of attitude of being hospitable and polite to others. They has polite and informal modes of address, it’s better to use the polite form for adults specially if you don’t know him well. If you use this formal mode to your friends or younger adults then you’ll more likely get their comments like “Don’t use ho/po with me. I’m not that old yet”.

Filipino use title mamÀ for a man who is a stranger and ale for a woman. Po or Opo is the respecting words of saying yes, mostly they use this after or before the sentence. These could shows the importance and respect to the elders.

And who will forget one of the Filipino favorite delicacies? This is what they called in tagalog Balut, Penoy. Balut is a boiled chicken/duck egg containing a partially formed embryo and they believed that balut o penoy is “Pampalakas ng tuhod” means makes your knee stronger.

When it comes to buy something in the market or in the vendors, they mostly like to ask favors to make the price low, they called it in tagalog “tawad or tingi”. And they said Pinoy is “Kuripot” means trifty. Were just lucky to have small entrepreneurs, on that way we can buy anything in a small affordable amounts, just like buying 1 stick of cigarettes, soap, condiments etc. and we have sari-sari store, one in every corner offers everthing that we need.

As you can see also that all Filipino when it comes to cooking rice they are not using measuring cup at all. They are using their fingers to measure it. Eventhough they lived in the other country but still they can’t hardly forget everything that they have in the country they lived in. Most of it that they really missed are what they called “bagoong, daing, manggang hilaw, dinuguan, fresh pandesal in the morning, puto, kutsinta and some street foods too includes chicken barbecue, banana cue, chicken entrails (IUD), adidas (chicken feet), warm taho, fishballs and etc.

And who wouldn’t like singing videoke/karaoke? All Filipino loved it so much. That is one of their favorite past time habits. They loved giving gifts too, they called it “Pasalubong”. This is our way of sharing and our excuse to shop without customary guilt. The other one is “Balikbayan Box”, they called it this way if you live or work abroad. When you send something to your family back to the country you live in. These is the another way of sharing life’s bounty.

Well there is a lot of things to say about being Pinoy, it’s easy to recognize them specially the way they act and talk, and me? Im proud of being Pinoy! Kayumanggi ata to hehe.
