| As what I've seen today the traditional way of courtship is almost gone now adays because it doesnt happen anymore. At the place where I grow up it seems like it was impossible to find a responsible adult guy to look as a potential husband coz most of them are not doing anything to make their life good. They are just drinking coconut wine, sitting on the street, playing basketball and make their life miserable because of their vices.
Most of them they even dont care if they can get a job or not, in the Philippines its hard to find a better job specially if you didnt finish high school. Even when you finish college its still hard to find a better job. As what i've seen, mostly girls are taking all the work. The same thing in courtship the girls do all the work. Go to work, take a guys out, spend there money on the guy, and the guy doesn't even care. He doesn't care to go home to meet the girls family, they doesn't treat the girl with gentleness, they are so polite at first but then at the end they just run away coz they got what they want to a girl. Harana(serenade)? it doesn't happen anymore nowadays. I think most of the guy dont have guts to bring guitar to serenade the girl, maybe most of them dont have self confidence to show that they are sincere to the girl that they are courting with. And nowadays girls are the one who courting the guy, they are not pakipot(trying hard to get) anymore. As you can see, there's a lot of young underage couples living together but they are not married. Some of the teenagers getting pregnant at an early age and a lot of irresponsible guys too out there. The reason are most of them are being so aggressive and not even thinking about the future. But of course, im not saying that all guys in Philippines are like that, they are also a few guys that they are doing their best to show to a girl that they are sincere about what they feel. That they're thinking also about the future not only the present. Most of them are guys who know how to treat a girl in a right way showing respect and love to that someone special they are courting with.
